Position Overview

The Ohio State Manager is responsible for delivering volume, distribution, merchandising a pricing performance across the state, covering both on- and off-premise channels. Manages distributor, state agency, and major customer relationships, developing and executing sales programming and pricing, managing budgets and marketing programs.

The ideal candidate will reside in the Columbus metro area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager in the development and execution of annual sales plan and management of the sales budget
  • Manage brand portfolio within assigned geography. Ensure proper management of depletions and inventory by SKU to prevent out of stocks and plan for future growth
  • Oversee and efficiently manage state sales budgets budget reporting & reconciliation.
  • Actively develop and manage relationships with distributor personnel
  • Ensure the planning and implementation of sales programming in all markets
  • Ensure the planning and execution of price structures and shelf prices in the market
  • Ensure POS and other marketing assets are utilized in the field with correct programs
  • Participate in the development of program-specific POS
  • Call on and activate Key Accounts in the market
  • Implement creative programs to engage consumers
  • Ensure that distribution, pricing, POS, displays, programs, menus, and ads are executed to brand standards
  • Travel as appropriate to observe market conditions, call on key buyers and distributor personnel, and interact and work with Sovereign sales personnel
  • Participate in internal and distributor planning and sales meetings
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the beverage alcohol industry in Ohio
  • Prior experience managing distributors; maintains current relationships with distributor management
  • Knowledge of distributor operations, programming, and pricing
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills
  • Expert at analyzing data & analytics via syndicated data (MicroStrategy, VIP, Compass, Diver, etc.) and Excel
  • Relationships with current Sovereign distributor management a plus
  • Ability to function effectively in an entrepreneurial business environment; “self-starter”
  • Objective-oriented, focused, individual who needs little direction or supervision
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Financially responsible and knowledgeable in budget management
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly verbal, including strong presentation skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel within the assigned territory 4.5 to 5 days per week are required. If a personal car is used for business purposes, proof of car insurance will be required. Business-related travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
